There are two things essential to form: structure and material. The combinations are endless. Even space has a form—a volume of air has a perimeter delineated by the objects that it bumps up against. The six artists gathered for this exhibition, in ways distinct to their respective practices, look at these constituent parts and tinker with their primacy in the elucidation of form. A material specificity is core to each in the evolution of a “live” surface, giving a palpable texture to the threshold between idea and object, that porous membrane where transformation occurs.
